Padua College reached out to us with a specific challenge: their existing shade mesh sails in the quadrangle courtyard were inadequate for the varied weather conditions, particularly for outdoor performances that require reliable coverage. Recognising the need for a solution that would allow the space to be used throughout the year, we collaborated closely with the college to develop a custom shade solution.
Project Details
Client Requirement: The aim was to provide additional outdoor coverage that would protect students and performers from the elements, allowing the courtyard to function as a versatile outdoor performance area regardless of the weather.
Solution: We recommended Bochini Tensile Structure Fabric as a lightweight, waterproof option. This advanced fabric ensures that the outdoor performance space remains functional in all seasons. The selected Shale Grey colour complements the school’s neutral tones and blends seamlessly with the natural surroundings, while also matching the Colorbond Woodland Grey powder-coated structural steel columns supporting the sails.
Materials Used
Canopy Fabric: The waterproof sails were constructed using Bochini 580GSM PVC, sourced from Ricky Richards. This high-quality material is renowned for its exceptional durability, UV resistance, and weatherproof properties, making it an ideal choice for outdoor applications. The fabric not only provides reliable shelter but also enhances the aesthetic appeal of the courtyard.
